Australian bishops' Council to work with government Investigation
December 04, 2012: The Australian Catholic bishops are setting up a special council
to work with the government’s commission investigating sexual abuse. The new group
will include bishops and their representatives, and will work directly with the government
Royal Commission, which is investigating sexual abuse. In announcing the establishment
of the new group, the bishops said: “Our hope is that, in its search for truth, the
Royal Commission will present recommendations ensuring the best possible standards
of child protection in our country.”
