November 29, 2012: On the occasion of the Year of Faith, a Pilgrimage to Rome for
the traveling show people is being organized in Rome for Friday and Saturday, revealed
a Press release by the Pontifical Council for the pastoral care of Migrants and Itinerant
people on Thursday. Circus professionals, operators of amusement parks and fairs,
street performers, artists, and puppeteers, components bands and folk groups will
meet in Rome for a two-day pilgrimage. They will attend the Holy Mass in St. Peter's
Basilica on Friday, presided by Cardinal Antonio Maria VEGLIÃ’, President of the Pontifical
Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People. They will have a special
audience with the Pope on Saturday.
About 7,000 participants from Austria,
Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Russia,
Spain, Switzerland, Hungary and the United States of America is expected to meet in
Rome. The pilgrims, to pay homage to the Holy Father, will place in St. Peter's
Square three symbols of the traveling show: a carousel horse, a circus tent and a
puppet theater.
The two-day Pilgrimage of the traveling show people is organized
by the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People,
in collaboration with the Foundation "Migrants", the Italian Episcopal Conference,
Diocese of Rome and other associations.
