Mexico's Peña meet Obama

Mexico's incoming President has told US President Barack Obama that his number one priority is reducing violence levels. The official version of the White House meeting, skirted on sensitive key issues, with Enrique Peña Nieto saying that lessening the violence throughout Mexico, is of paramount importance. He's planning to streamline the Federal Police, create a new police force, but also try to integrate and dovetail the whole security apparatus, which often operates like jealous fiefdoms.
For his part, President Obama mentioned the need for migration reform. Congress in the United States has failed to grasp the political nettle time and again. But the situation concerning millions of undocumented migrants has got to be practically resolved.
Behind closed doors, The Mexican team will have been voicing deep concern about marijuana legalization in the states of Washington and Colorado, and urging Obama to do much more to curb illegal gun running.
It's been a timely get to know you, with both sides determined to improve the bi-lateral relationship which has drifted, no matter what diplomats say.
