Spotlight on new centre for interreligious dialogue
(Vatican Radio) An international symposium was inaugurated in Vienna, Austria on Monday
to mark the opening of the “King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious
and Intercultural Dialogue” (KAICIID). Named after the king if Saudi Arabia who began
the initiative, the objective of KAICIID is to promote dialogue between peoples of
different religions and cultures throughout the world. The Holy See's representative
on the KAICIID Board of Directors is Fr Miguel Ayuso, Secretary of the Pontifical
Council for Interreligious Dialogue. Speaking with Vatican Radio, Fr Ayuso noted that
“The International community is expecting many things from this new centre.” The
collaboration between different religious leaders, he said, will be aimed towards
finding ways of “inviting the international community so as to allow every human person
to enjoy this basic right that is religious freedom.” Listen to Chris Altieri’s
