John XXIII: "Mater et Magistra"

(Vatican Radio) It was 1961 and for the first time in history a Roman Pontiff issued a social encyclical in which justice was viewed in a global way.

The Pope in question was John XXIII and the document "Mater et Magistra".

In an effort to find out more Veronica Scarisbrick speaks to Professor of Catholic Social Teaching at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas here in Rome, Dominican Alejandro Crosthwaite.
