(Vatican Radio) US President Barack Obama made historic visits to Burma and Cambodia. Speaking
in the Burmese city of Rangoon, the President praised recent democratic reform efforts
and promised US support for the country for so long as real reforms continue. Hours
later, Obama travelled to Cambodia, where he met with and criticized the country's
leader on the issue of human rights. White House officials emphasized that Obama would
not have visited Cambodia had it not been hosting two regional summit meetings the
U.S. attends. The president’s Tuesday schedule includes meetings scheduled in Cambodia
with his counterparts in the East Asia Summit. Obama is also scheduled to meet separately
on the sidelines of the summit with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda and with
Wen, the Chinese premier. It's likely to be Obama's last bilateral meetings with both
men. Listen:
