WYD Rio 2013 - pilgrims will get free entry visa for Brazil
November 13, 2012: The Brazilian government has decided to give entry visa free of
charge to facilitate the entry of pilgrims who reach the country for the next World
Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro, scheduled for 23 to 27 July 2013. The decree was published
in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Brazil on Last Friday, that will allow
the pilgrims to get free entry visa for Brazil. You will need to download and fill
out a form that is on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil (http://www.portalconsular.mre.gov.br/)
also present a valid passport and documentation sent by the Organizing Committee of
World Youth Day Rio 2013, which confirms the participation of pilgrims at WYD. The
pilgrims can arrive in Rio until July 28 and the visa will be valid for 90 days. For
volunteers the validity of the visa may be for a year. Sister Maria Machado Shaiane,
responsible for the registration of GMG reiterates that it is "essential to have the
document issued by GMG because the visa is issued free of charge."
