Sacred Heart sisters get new chief

November 06, 2012: Sister Roshini has been elected as the new mother general of the Congregation of the Sisters of Sacred Heart. The 49-year-old nun was appointed to the post on Oct. 31 in the presence of Archbishop William D’Souza of Patna at their mother house in Patna. The nun said that her immediate priority is to impart the spirit of their ninth general chapter- Charism and Constitution- to every member of the congregation. Sister Roshini said that she would like to bring about transparency in matters of administration and finance.

“Though I am unworthy, I want to work for a spirit of reverence and love for the Sacred Heart Sisters,” she said. The nun, who would assume office next month, said that she wants to stay in oneness with the sisters, the church and religious groups to uphold the dignity of their congregation. “Our faith must increase and fears must vanish to build good relationship with God and another to serve the needy in our missions,” she added.
The Congregation was founded in 1926 by late Bishop Louis Van Hoeck. It has 252 members serving in two Patna and Ranchi provinces.
