(Oct. 31, 2012) Pope Benedict XVI’s General Prayer intention for the month of November
tthat Bishops, priests and all ministers if the Gospel may bear the courageous witness
of fidelity to the crucified and Risen Lord. In the Year of Faith that has just
begun, Pope Benedict invites us to pray for the faith of our spiritual leaders. As
you are all aware we live in a secularized world that lays emphasis on material
things and earthly pleasures, which often draw Christians away from their faith. In
some places of the world Christians are also persecuted for their faith Even our
spiritual leaders, including bishops, priests and other ministers of the Gospel, face
grave temptations in their daily life. Pope Benedict wants us to reach out to them
this month with our prayerful support. The Holy Father says even when humanity rejected
God and his plan by sinning, God did not reject us. Instead God showed us his love
and mercy by sending his only Son to live our life, to suffer and be crucified.
We too should respond in loving gratitude. Let us pray that this Year of Faith
may arouse in every believer the aspiration to profess the faith in fullness and with
renewed conviction. Above all let us particularly for our spiritual leaders.
