Chief Minister lauds Catholic college’s contribution in education

Sarkar has lauded the contribution of the first Catholic college in the state in imparting
value-based education. He praised the faculty and management of the Holy Cross
College (HCC) in encouraging multifarious talents in the students for the development
of their total personality. He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of the
Oct. 17 to 19 college fest “HCC TEJAS 2012”.
Nearly 8,000 people took part
in the fest which was based on the theme: “Rise, shine and be your best”. The fest
integrated academic, cultural, arts, sports and games competitions.
The chief
minister also inaugurated the HCC Alumni Association called Basilians, named after
the Founder of the Congregation of Holy Cross Blessed Basil Antony Moreau, on the
occasion.
He called on the students to contribute to the development of the
state. “We may be people of northeast India, but we are Indians. We need citizens
of character to build up our state and our nation,” Sarkar said. He said that teachers
have a great role to play in the character formation of our future citizens.
