Seven decapitated, dismembered and burned bodies have been found in Western Mexico.
James Blears reports on yet another tragedy in Mexico's drug war.
The inevitable
tipoff, which is so often used by drug cartels, led police to the scene of carnage.
A stolen truck has been set ablaze. Seven mutilated, dismrmbered, headless bodies
were found in charred plastic bags. It was on a highway in Michocan, Western Mexico,
which is President Felipe Calderon's home State, and the location borders another
State Jalisco.
Thousands of bodies found in similarly appalling conditions
are never identifed. Many times relatives of those who've permanently disappeared
are too petrified to come forward, or would be too traumatized by the evidence of
man's inhumantity to man before their eyes.
The Attorney General's Office
rarely provides statistics on how many have perished in Mexico's Drug War. Many estimates
put it more than 50,000. But this is now surely outdated. A number of experts estimate
the current death toll is double of that.
