New dean named for Tribunal of the Roman Rota

Pope Benedict XVI has named Msgr. Pio Vito Pinto as the Dean of the Tribunal of the Roman Rota. He replaces Bishop Antoni Stankiewicz, who is retiring. The Roman Rota is court of higher instance at the Holy See, and usually handles appellate cases. The vast majority of these cases involve marriage nullity.
