Mexican task force combats drug war

(Vatican Radio) A combined one thousand strong task force of troops and police have been sent to patrol the streets of a suburb to the East of Mexico City.

Cuidand Neza is currently at the epicentre of a murderous feud between the Michocan family drug cartel and the infamous as well as ferocious Zetas. Local Federal Deputy in Congress Jaime Serrano was stabbed to death there last weekend, and people are complaining about being intimidated and extorted by street gangs.

The place has been dubbed Neza York, because it's a sprawling metropolis and drug related crime there is soaring. A significant proportion of the international ex pat community in Mexico, live in and around the capitol, or within a close outlying radius.
