Pope encourages Argentina Church in ‘More for Less’ collection
(September 01, 2012) Pope Benedict XVI is encouraging Argentineans to participate
generously in the 43rd annual collection drive, “More for Less”, which will take place
in all parishes throughout the country next weekend, September 8 and 9. The theme
of this year’s collection promoted by Argentina’s Catholic bishops is “Your Help
Dignifies”. In a message sent on the Pope’s behalf by Vatican Secretary of State,
Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Pope invited Argentinian Catholics to intensify their
love for Christ, by identifying themselves more with Him who despite being rich became
poor for our sake. Describing the collection for the poor a praiseworthy initiative,
the Holy Father urged that it becomes an effective charity towards the most needy
brothers.
