A women-only Industrial City launched in Saudi Arabia
(Aug.08, 2012) An industrial city for women has been launched in Saudi Arabia. The
city will have only female entrepreneurs, employees and workers, and no men. The
project, presented by the Saudi Industrial Property Authority - Modon, was approved
by Prince Mansour Bin Miteb Bin Abdul Aziz, Saudi Arabian Minister for local and rural
Affairs. The Minister has already indicated the land on which the industrial city
will be built, near Hofuf and Al-Ahsa airport in the eastern province. The Modon plan
for the industrial city for women only, follows the Government instructions to create
more job opportunities for women to enable them to play a more important role in the
development of the country and job opportunities for young people. The industrial
city will have women-led companies and production lines for the women. Modon Deputy
Director General Saleh Al-Rasheed said he as sure that women can demonstrate their
efficiency in many aspects and clarify the industries that best suit their interests,
their nature and their ability" .
