On Friday evening, during the celebration of Vespers at the Shrine of Loreto, the
Territorial Prelate of Loreto Archbishop Giovanni Tonucci announced that on Thursday,
October 4, the Holy Father visit the shrine of Loreto to entrust to the intercession
of the Virgin the work of the Synod of Bishops and the Year of Faith.
The
visit will take place on the 50th anniversary of the historic pilgrimage
by train of Pope John XXIII to Assisi and Loreto on the eve of the opening of the
Second Vatican Council.
This time, however, the Pope will not travel by train,
but by helicopter.
