Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue gets new secretary
June 30, 2012: Pope Benedict XVI has appointed Spanish Father Miguel Ángel Ayuso
Guixot MCCJ, as Secretary of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue. Presently
he is the President of the Pontifical Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies.
Father
Miguel is a member of the Institute of the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus.
Since his ordination in 1982, he has ministered as a missionary in Egypt and Sudan
until 2002. He has earned a degree in Arab and Islamic Studies and doctorate in dogmatic
theology.
