(Vatican Radio) On Wednesday the Supervisory Council of the Institute for Religious
Works met at the Vatican for discussions. The Council, as is known, is currently includes
Vice President, Dr. Ronaldo Hermann Schmitz, Prof. Carl Albert Anderson, Dr Antonio
Maria Marocco and Dr Manuel Soto Serrano.
Subsequently, the Council reported
to the Supervisory Commission of Cardinals, presided over by Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone,
Secretary of State.
A statement released by the Secretary of State following
the morning meetings describes both sessions as “very useful for sharing information
and proposals for the ongoing management [of the Institution - ed], both for identifying
the criteria of professionalism and experience universally recognized in choosing
the new President of the Supervisory Council.
The statement concludes: “Pope
Benedict XVI is closely monitoring the current situation of the Institute for Works
of Religion and is constantly informed by the Cardinal Secretary of State”.
