Pope Benedict XVI on Sunday wished that Catholic communicators be able to help people
protect God’s creation by drawing attention to the ethical issues of the environment.
Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone conveyed the Pope’s sentiments
in a message sent to the 9th International Forum of Catholic Media for
Safeguarding Creation that concluded on Sunday in Trent, Italy. In the message addressed
to Archbishop Luigi Bressan of Trent, Cardinal Bertone wrote, “the supreme pontiff
wished that the symposium encourage greater conscious attention to environmental problems,
favouring a communication that is attentive to ethical aspects.”
