In the United States, the Catholic Bishops are holding their annual spring meeting
in Atlanta, Georgia, where religious liberty is topping the agenda.
At the
forefront of the bishops' efforts is the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services'
mandate that would force Catholic institutions to provide health insurance coverage
to employees for procedures the Catholic Church opposes, including abortion-inducing
drugs, artificial contraceptives and sterilizations.
The bishops are organizing
a "Fortnight for Freedom," two weeks of rallies and prayer services on religious freedom
from June 21 to July 4th.
