Volunteers for 7th world meeting of Families start work on Pentecost day
May 26, 2012: On Sunday, May 27, Cardinal Angelo Scola, the Archbishop of Milan,
celebrated the Pentecost and during the Mass delivered the ‘office’ to volunteers
of the 7th world meeting of Families in Milan scheduled to begin on 30th
May.
There will be 5408 volunteers for the 7th world meeting of
families. They will make a vital contribution to assist pilgrims during the many events
scheduled in the program and accompanying international delegations. They will work
as drivers and guides, and will man information points at airports, and would assist
the general security personnel in crucial places of ' Meeting, revealed a Press release
on Saturday.
Women are slightly more than men among the volunteers. More than
half of the volunteers are under 35 years, but there are also 32 seniors who are over
70. Every 4 out of 5 volunteers are from Italy. And there are those who travel
from overseas to give a hand to families who meet the Pope: 184 are from abroad (10
Ecuador, 14 from Kenya, 18 from Brazil, 19 from the Slovak Republic, 21 from Spain
). The foreign community is also available with 255 Filipino volunteers, stated the
press release by Don Davide Milani, Head of Communications, Archdiocese of Milan. The
7th world meeting of families will be held in Milan from May 30 to June
3, 2012. The meeting will have the theme : "The Family: Work and Rest". Pope Benedict
XVI will meeting the delegates of 7th World Meeting of Families scheduled
for 1st June.
