The Australian Catholic Church held an international media congress recently to explore
the theme ‘Communicating the Word: Timeless Messages, New Media’. The meeting in Sydney,
from April 30th to May 2nd, brought together a wide range of speakers to discuss the
impact of social media and other new technologies on the mission of the Church. Among
them was the secretary of the Vatican’s Council for Social Communications, Msg Paul
Tighe who shared with Philippa Hitchen some reflections on that important encounter
and his thoughts on the theme for this year's World Communications Day 'Silence and
Word: Path of Evangelisation'...
