Pope receives Albanian President

May 05, 2012: Pope Benedict XVI received Albanian President Mr. Topi on Saturday, May 5, 2012.
They reported to have discussed the good relations existing between the Holy See and the Republic of Albania. They also reviewed issues of common interest pertaining to the relations between the ecclesial and civil communities, including inter-religious dialogue and the contribution the Church in education and social development. There was also focused on Albania's path towards full EU integration, stated a Press released on Saturday.

Finally, there was an exchange of views on international and regional situation, with particular attention to the economic crisis.

Later the president also met Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Secretary of State, accompanied by Archbishop Dominique Mamberti, Secretary for Relations with States, revealed a Communique of the Holy See Press Office on Saturday.
