Appointments: Brooklyn Auxiliaries

Pope Benedict XVI has appointed two new auxiliary bishops for Brooklyn, U.S.A. The Holy Father has appointed Msgr. Paul R. Sanchez Episcopal Vicar to Queens, and Msgr. Raymond F. Chappetto Episcopal Vicar for Clergy and Consecrated Life and parish priest of “Our Lady of the Snows”, Floral Park.
Curriculum Vitae of Bishop Paul R. SANCHEZ

Msgr. Robert Paul Sanchez was born November 26, 1946 in Brooklyn (New York). He attended the Pontifical North American College (1968-1972), obtaining a licentiate in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University.

Ordained a priest on 17 December 1971 for the Diocese of Brooklyn, he has held the following positions: assistant priest of '"Our Lady of Mercy Parish" in Forest Hills (1972-1975), the "Saint Michael Parish" in Flushing (1975 to 1987 ) and "Saint Sebastian Parish" in Woodside (1987-1990), Administrator of "Saint Sebastian Parish" (1990-1991) and pastor of the "Saint Agatha Parish" in Brooklyn (1991-2001) and of '"Our Lady of Mount Carmel" in Astoria (2001-2008). He was the Episcopal Vicar for the territory of "North Queens" (2008-2009) and, since 2009, is the Episcopal Vicar for the area of Queens. He was also member of the Diocesan Liturgical Commission and the Council of Priests of Brooklyn.

On 23 February 1997, he was named Prelate of Honor of His Holiness.

Besides English, he speaks Spanish and Italian.

Curriculum Vitae of Archbishop Raymond F. CHAPPETTO

Msgr. Raymond Francis Chappetto was born August 20, 1945 in Astoria (New York). He received a “Master of Divinity" at the "Our Lady of Angels" Seminary in Albany and a "Master of Arts" in Religious Education at "Saint John's University" in Queens.

Ordained a priest May 29, 1971 for the Diocese of Brooklyn, he has held the following positions: assistant pastor of "Saint Camillus Parish" in Rockaway Park (1971-1975), the "Saint Pius V Parish" in Jamaica (1975-1976), '"Incarnation Parish" in Queens Village (1976-1981), "Saint Helen Parish" in Howard Beach (1981-1983), "Our Lady of Miracles Parish" in Brooklyn (1983-1989) and pastor of '"Our Lady of Miracles Parish" (1989-1995), Episcopal Vicar of "Brooklyn West" (1995-1999). Since 1999, he is parish priest of '"Our Lady of the Snows" in Floral Park and, since 2009, is Vicar for Clergy and Consecrated Life.

On 23 February 1997 he was named Prelate of Honor of His Holiness.
