For the first time in its history, the International Salvation Army Band, performed
Saturday in Vatican’s St Peter’s Square. It marked the 125th anniversary
of its presence in Italy. The Salvation Army is a movement currently present in 120
nations. Together with the preaching of the Word of God, they engage in social work
of various kinds, for the benefit of the poorest and the most disadvantaged. They
take an active part in ecumenical activity and for several years now have been maintaining
relations with Vatican’s Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the Unity of Christians.
