Westminster Abbey choir reacts to Vatican invitation
Westminster Abbey's world famous choir has been invited by the Holy See to sing in
Rome alongside the Sistine Chapel choir in the presence of Pope Benedict. The two
choirs will together sing at First Vespers in the Basilica of St Paul Outside the
Walls on 28th of June and then again at the papal mass in St Peter's Basilica on June
29th.
The Dean of Westminster Abbey, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall spoke
to Susy Hodges about his "delight" over this invitation and its ecumenical significance.
He also noted that it marks the first time in its 500 year plus history that the Sistine
Chapel Choir has joined forces with another choir.
