Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has crowned a string of Super Tuesday
victories with a win in the key swing state of Ohio. As expected, Romney won in his
home state of Massachusetts, as well as Idaho, Vermont and Virginia. After a cliff-hanger
count, he narrowly edged out Rick Santorum to take Ohio, the night's most coveted
prize. Santorum won contests in three states, while Newt Gingrich took his home state
of Georgia. Ron Paul was pinning his hopes for his only victory of the nomination
campaign on Alaska's caucuses – though Romney took Alaska as well. The eventual nominee
will challenge Barack Obama in November's election.
