North Korean negotiator to visit US

A senior North Korean nuclear negotiator will attend a security conference in the United States. News of the visit comes on the heels of a breakthrough agreement that will provide much-needed U.S. food aid to North Korea in exchange for a rollback of its nuclear programs. Also this week, South Korea and the United States are mobilizing for their biggest annual war games. U.S. commanders say North Korea's 1.2 million troops are at their peak readiness, following a brief respite after the death of longtime leader Kim Jong Il. This year's Foal Eagle maneuvers are the first since his son Kim Jong Un assumed power. US and South Korean leaders are closely watching Pyongyang's reaction, looking for signs of how the world's youngest commander in chief will lead.
