Ecumenism, justice and peace...

During this week of prayer for Christian unity, the English speaking Churches and ecumenical institutes here in Rome are the focus for many joint initiatives and shared worship services. Among the highlights this year was a prayer liturgy and presentation at the Centro Pro Unione by Jesuit Father Drew Christiansen, editor-in-chief of America Magazine, on the promotion of justice and peace in an ecumenical context.
During the 1990’s Fr Drew headed the US Catholic Bishops’ Justice and Peace office and later continued to advise the bishops’ conference, especially in the field of support for the Christian Churches in the Holy Land. Following his lecture, Fr Drew spoke to Philippa Hitchen about his work and his hopes for the future of the ecumenical movement…
