Tuesday, January 17th, is the 23rd "Day for Deepening and Development
of Catholic-Jewish Dialogue." The theme of this year’s day of reflection is: “Thou
shalt not kill.” Bishop Brian Farrell, Secretary of the Pontifical Council for
Promoting Christian Unity – which includes the secretariat for religious relations
with Jews – says the day of reflection "serves to remind us of our roots in the Bible,
in the Word of God, and reminds us of the fact that the whole reality of the New Testament
can only be understood against the background of God's intervention in the history
of the Jewish people."
