India, inter-religious dialogue is a Christian way of life
(January 05, 2012) "The Church's commitment to interreligious dialogue cannot become
a true Christian way of life without the involvement of priests”, says Fr Subhash
Anand, professor and theologian in India, urging the country to promote religious
dialogue between different beliefs. "We have to face dialogue between different beliefs
with responsibility - says Fr Anand - if we are serious when it comes to faith formation
in a multi-religious context ". He stresses: "Interreligious dialogue requires a more
critical awareness of the faith, creativity and courage." Moreover, he adds, "We need
a great ability to relate with each other, and not be locked up in the role of leaders,
but as men of good will. The ministers of dialogue should have more credibility."
Fr Subhash Anand is Professor Emiritus of Jnana-Deepa Vidyapeeth Pune India where
he taught theology for 35 years.
