A plea for help by Eritrean hostages

Grave concern is being expressed over the fate of 13 hostages who are being held in northern Sinai, close to the Israeli border. They have issued a desperate appeal for international intervention after being informed that they will be sold to organ traffickers if a ransom is not paid for them.

“We have seen reports that some of these people (hostages) have their organs harvested and are being left to die in the desert, says Kiri Kankhwende from Christian Solidarity Worldwide who has been highlighting the plight of these hostages.

She also told Lydia O’Kane that tens of thousands of Eritreans are thought to be imprisoned in the country’s many detention facilities due to the country’s repressive regime, including around 3,000 Christians.

Hundreds of Eritrean refugees, including women and children, have fallen into the hands of human traffickers. Listen RealAudioMP3
