As we begin the New Year the search for peace in many nations of the world continues. Speaking
on the World Day of Peace yesterday Pope Benedict said, it is hard to fully achieve
peace, “but it is a goal to which we all must aspire to and for which we must all
work.”
Israeli and Palestinian negotiators meet Tuesday after more than a year
of deadlock in peacemaking efforts. Both sides will be joined in Jordan along with
representatives of the Quartet of Middle East mediators - the United States, the European
Union, Russia and the United Nations.
Vatican Radio spoke to the Latin Patriarch
of Jerusalem, Fuad Twal about the Pope’s peace message and his hopes for this upcoming
meeting. He says, “we hope for more peace, we need more peace, wish for more peace
for everybody in the Holy Land”. Patriarch Twal adds, that Jerusalem must and city
