US Bishops' ad limina visits: Archbishop Myers on religious liberty
The US Catholic Bishops from Region 3 – comprising New Jersey and Pennsylvania – are
in Rome this week for their ad limina visits. Chris Altieri spoke with the group’s
senior prelate, Archbishop John J. Myers of Newark, New Jersey. Beginning with a broad
overview of the life of the Church in Newark, their conversation turned to the question
of religious liberty and the role of religion in public life. Archbishop Myers also
talked about the new missionary impetus given to the Church through the II Vatican
