Pope Benedict XVI: international students build cultural bridges

Pope Benedict XVI received the participants in the 3rd Worldwide Pastoral Congress for International Students. Organized by the Pontifical Council for Migrants and Itinerants, the Congress this year explored the role of international students in creating opportunities for cross-cultural encounters. Pope Benedict spoke to the participants of the importance of giving students who travel to foreign lands for their education a full, integral formation, including both intellectual and spiritual formation, “with a view,” he said, “to their return to their home countries as responsible persons who will contribute to the construction of cultural bridges between their countries of origin and their host countries.” The Worldwide Pastoral Congress for International Students concludes in Rome on Saturday.
