From the 14th to the 15th of November the ‘Courtyard of the Gentiles’ project sponsored
by the Pontifical Council for Culture , presided by Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, travelled
to Albania’s capital Tirana to discuss what non believers believe in.
On the
14th the ‘Courtyard ‘ was first of all located in Tirana’s Cathedral Square
where three marquees had been set up to debate three different issues: work , spirituality
and media . And on the 15th it moved to the student halls of two different
Albanian Universities .
Klaudia Bumci of our Albanian Programme travelled to
Tirana with this ‘Courtyard ‘ , reporting on the events as she witnessed them first
hand .
When she returned to Rome Veronica Scarisbrick asked Klaudia to give
us her impressions of these events . But began by asking her to share her memories
of what it was like growing up in Tirana under a tough atheist regime.
