On Saturday Pope Benedict meets with priests, religious, seminarians and lay people
from Benin in the seminary at Ouidah, a city to the west of Cotonou which served for
many years as a departure point for slaves being sold overseas. Today the Catholic
Church in the West African nation is deeply involved in promoting justice and reconciliation
- themes which must be modelled within the communities of men and women religious
themselves. Our correspondent in Benin, Fr Moses Hamungole spoke with Sr Felicia
Nwosu, from the Missionaries of Our Lady of Apostles in Cotonou, about the challenges
of religious life there and about her congregation's special emphasis on promoting
women's rights and dignity....
