November is the time of year we dedicate time and prayer to the memory of our 'dear
departed' as we say. And as Monsignor Peter Fleeetwood says :..."sometimes what you
discover in preparation for funerals is the amount of guilt in people they often
transfer to somebody else like the undertaker, the police, the nursing staff in
the hospital or even the priest . We become responsible for the person who's died,
but that's only a temporary thing, it's a shock reaction although I think the guilt
persists sometimes .Then there's another much more common fact: simply missing people...you
do get used to missing people but you never really get over it , you still miss them."...
In
the course of this conversation Monsignor Peter gets asked why we should pray for
the departed souls of our loved ones.
