Pope’s Visit to Benin - New Album Released ‘Africa Make Peace!’
November 08, 2011: During his upcoming apostolic journey in Benin, November 18 to
20, the Holy Father Benedict XVI will deliver to the African bishops the Post-Synodal
Apostolic Exhortation result of the Second Synod for Africa in 2009. In view of
the event, Vatican Radio, in partnership with three African musicians has produced
a CD with eight songs with the theme as a leitmotif of Synod: "The Church in Africa
in service to reconciliation, justice and peace." The CD will be offered to all the
bishops and Catholic radio stations on the continent before being distributed to the
general public. "The album - explained in the Director of Vatican Radio, Jesuit
Father Federico Lombardi, SJ, - expresses the will to follow up the fruits of the
Synod. The songs in different languages interpret the desire for peace, reconciliation
and justice for African people. This is a concrete way - underscores Father Lombardi
- the inculturation of the Gospel in Africa, as called for by Benedict XVI during
his visit to Cameroon in 2009. The CD was completed with the contribution of the
Magis, the Italian Jesuit Movement and Action for Development, and the Omnibus, the
main Italian facility for the production of concerts and ecclesial events.
