(November 03, 2011) Concerned over the sex ratio in the country, Caritas India will
launch several campaigns against female foeticide and infanticide as part of its golden
jubilee year program. “In many parts of the country, the sex ratio has become a major
concern. According to the recent census report there has been a decline in sex ratio
to 914 females against 1000 males at the national level, which will get worse in the
future,” said Fr. Varghese Mattamana, executive director of Caritas India. He said
that their aim is to spread the importance of having a girl child among people who
think they are a liability. The organization will launch awareness programs in association
with Sister Doctors Forum of India (SDFI) and various other NGO’s across the country.
