" Veni, Sancte Spiritus ". Come Holy Spirit . These words call to mind the fervent
prayer of the disciples gathered in the Upper Room with Mary , waiting for the gift
of the Spirit.
"As we reflect on the third Glorious mystery of the Rosary,
the Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles", says Monsignor Philip Whitmore,
"I'd like to play you three polyphonic settings of the Pentecost sequence, the Veni,
Sancte Spiritus. The first was written by the 15th century English composer John Dunstable.
