Patriarch Twal on sharing hopes, problems and aspirations
Pope Benedict on Thursday morning held a private meeting with the Latin Patriarch
of Jerusalem Fouad Twal. The Patriarch was received by the Holy Father in his role
as President of the Conference of Latin Bishops’ of the Arab region.
The Bishops’
concluded their three day conference Thursday following discussions on issues such
as the present situation in the Middle East, the Synod on New Evangelisation and next
year’s International Eucharistic Congress. “I was really happy to be with His Holiness
this morning”, said Patriarch Twal, speaking to Vatican Radio.
He added that
the Bishops’ attended the General Audience on Wednesday with the Pope saying that,
“they could each one speak about his country and his church". The Patriarch said that
all of the Bishops’ during the conference felt they had something in common such as
problems like emigration, freedom of movement of Christians and the question of Syria
and how it will finish. Listen
