International Conference on Human Vulnerability in Rome
October 11, 2011: The second international conference and workshop on Bioethics,
Human Vulnerability on Multiculturalism and Religion began in Rome on 9th
October and will conclude on 11th October. Bioethicists from six religions
- Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism - are meeting
to discuss the principle of vulnerability of the Universal Declaration on Bioethics
and Human Rights. The conference is organized by the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics
and Human Rights, established the School of Bioethics of the Pontifical Regina Apostolorum,
and the Faculty of Law at the European University of Rome. The meeting will conclude
with a public session, on Tuesday, October 11, at the headquarters of the Regina Apostolorum,
and the European University of Rome with simultaneous translation in Italian and English. The
occasion will also see the exhibition of the works of the winners of the first edition
of the world of contemporary art organized by the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics and Human
Rights, dedicated to the theme of human vulnerability. The public session on Tuesday
will focus on "The genesis of the principle of vulnerability", and on " The principle
of vulnerability in the global context. "
