Youth urged to help out in 2012 World Meeting of Families

(October 07, 2011) The north Italian archdiocese of Milan which is hosting the Catholic Church’s 7th World Meeting of Families from May 30-June 3 next year, is inviting young people from around the world to help in organizing the event. “Will you help us welcome the Pope? Do you believe in the beauty of volunteerism? Would you like to meet people from all over the world?” are some of the questions that the event’s organizing committee has made in its leaflets and on its website www.family2012.com. The 2012 World Meeting of Families includes a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI. The organizing committee made an appeal to young people, aged 18 and over, “who would like to spend some time organising” such a world event, stressing “volunteers must be deeply motivated about the event and about their experience of service”. It mentioned services such as information to pilgrims, assistance to disabled people, children and elderly people, helping in the press office, or being in the places of the celebrations on the days of the event.
