Pakistan sentences governor's assassin to death

A Pakistani court has found guilty and sentenced to death the police bodyguard who killed Punjab Governor Salman Taseer in January. A judge gave Mumtaz Qadri two death sentences: one for murder and the other for terrorism. A member of Punjab governor Salman Taseer's protection detail, Qadri opened fire on the governor as he was about to get into his car in the capital, Islamabad, on January 4^th of this year. The assassination divided Pakistan, with many hailing Qadri as a hero. The trial was held at a high-security prison in the garrison town, Rawalpindi, outside the political capital, Islamabad. Listen
