Pope Benedict XVI visited a special exposition of his published works on Thursday,
prepared by the German Herder publishers and the Vatican publishing house. In remarks
to the organizers and participants in the event, the Holy Father thanked them and
everyone who has had a hand in the publication of his books through the years. “I
know what it means to edit a book,” he said, adding, “the silent effort that goes
into it is necessary in order that the work might appear to the world in the right
way.” The Pope wen on to say, “the author does his part becomes known, while others
remain in the background and do their job without appearing – but all are silently
present.”
