Pope sends telegram of condolences to Chile
(September 03.09.2011) Pope Benedict XVI sent a telegram of condolences Saturday, to the President of the Episcopal Conference of Chile, Salesian Archbishop Ricardo Ezzato Andrello deploring the aircrash , near the island of Juan Fernandez, causing the death of several persons. The telegram was signed by Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone. The Pope assured them of his closeness to the bereaved and of his fervent prayers. An army aircraft with 21 persons on board had disappeared on Friday, in the Pacific; it was taking a Television team to make a documentary on the reconstruction of the Juan Fernandez Arcipelago devastated by the Tsunami that had followed an earthquake on 27th February 2010. the Chilean navy on Saturday could only report having recovered one feminine corpse from the waters.
