(August 27, 2011) Pope Benedict XVI has named three special delegates, Cardinal
Tomko retired Prefect of the Vatican Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples,
for the concluding celebrations of the six hundred years since the occurrence of
the Eucharistic Miracle of Ludbreg, Croatia, that happened in the castle chapel in
1411. The priest celebrating Mass that day had doubted the truth of the consecration.
Soon after, the wine had turned into blood, which is still preserved. The celebration
of the anniversary will take place on September 4th next. Likewise the
Pope has appointed Cardinal . Giovanni Battista Re, retired Prefect for the Vatican
Congregation for Bishops, as his special delegate for the 25th Italian
National Eucharistic Congress at Ancona from 3rd to 11th September.
. Finally the Pope has delegated Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino to represent him
at the celebration of the one thousand years of the Benedictine Abbey of the Most
Holy Trinity at Cava in southern Italy founded by St Alferio Pappacarbone who had
a vision of the Trinity in the form of three rays issuing from a rock. He retired
to that spot 1011 to pray and contemplate. He died in 1050. The celebration will
take place on 4th September next.
