50th International Eucharistic Congress 2012 Team Attends WYD
August 16, 2011:Over a 1000 Irish Youth attending WYD in Madrid will deliver
Invitation to the International Eucharistic Congress to be held in Dublin 2012. Youths
from the diocese of Dublin will wear specially designed T-shirts carrying the invitation
to the Congress. Staff members of International Eucharistic Congress have already
secured an exhibition booth at a first location in the Parque del Retiro, in Madrid,
where information is available on the Eucharistic Congress to pilgrims in a variety
of languages. Secretary General, Fr Kevin Doran said: "We will have a dedicated
Youth Space at the Congress next year, with Its own program of Catechesis, music,
and much more personal Testimonies. In the heat of Madrid we want to extend a really
warm Irish welcome to young people from all over the world. 50th International
Eucharistic Congress will take place in Dublin from June 10th to 17th 2012 under the
theme "The Eucharist: Communion with Christ and with one another." It expects up to
80.000 pilgrims from all over the world to participate in the Congress. It is
an international gathering of people, every four years somewhere in the world, which
effectively AIMS to Promote an awareness of the central place of the Eucharist in
the life and mission of the Catholic Church; Help Improve our understanding and celebration
of the liturgy and draw attention to the social dimension of the Eucharist. Speaking
before His departure for Madrid, Gerard Gallagher, who is Responsible for pastoral
Planning for the Congress, said: "Many of our parishes have Become places where young
adults do not have any real role. I Hope That part of the legacy of the Congress will
be the encouragement Offered Practical and support to our young people to engage actively
in youth ministry Programmes in our parishes. Parishes need young people. Young people
need to be challenged Also To Be Part of a living Church and helped to See That They
Have a Role Crucial as young people in building up the community of faith."
