Although the new nation of South Sudan has been officially independent for a month, there is still conflict in the region. In the Sudanese state of South Kordofan borders South Sudan, and Fighting broke out in the area in June between the Sudanese Armed Forces-SAF and the Sudan Peoples Liberation Army or SPLA.

The Anglican Bishop from Kadugli, Andudu Adam Elnail recently urged the United Nations Security Council to take action.

“If you are dead with the bombs, next year you’ll die from the famine because the Government of Sudan is not allowing the humanitarian to go and give aid food and medicine to the people on the ground. And there is a lot of killing going on and we consider this as ethnic cleansing. And that’s why we are calling on the UN Security Council to consider what is going on in Sudan,” he said.
